A love of snow
not for skiing
or for shoveling,
not for driving
or for boarding,
but for dreaming
and for steaming
river waters–
for crunching
beneath boots
and napping deeply
on sycamore roots–
for kissing long lashes
and drifting softly
as crystal ashes
Riding in the car
my thoughts turn to…
a conversation on a busy city street
the paint stains on my jeans
passing farms and the families that call them home
aunts and uncles long since passed
my lost mitten
the stunning blue sky
