I only happened upon your blog yesterday, but judging from what I have enjoyed here so far, it can only be “interesting good” – although this would be an understatement.
Well, it’s always nice to have positive feedback, but I can’t abide by the “nominating 15 other bloggers” rule. A little too much like a popularity contest, which is really not my cup of tea.
Yes, I agree. I had one awarded to me and I went and did the same — but I found myself having to look for 15 other blogs that met the criteria. Too much like FB likes.
By the way, I like your blog…the photos and quotes are perfect. Best wishes from Brisbane, Australia.
It was a bit of a challenge to come up with the 15. I did feel honored to have been nominated, but it was a lot of work to add links and such. I think I might follow your lead. 🙂
I also feel honored when someone mentions the awards to me. I truly feel great satisfaction in knowing that somewhere someone out there likes what I write. But I’ve never been good at this kind of thing where one has to “sponsor” or “nominate” or whatever the word may be. And so I choose to go my own way and still offer my humble appreciation.
I don’t think that there’s anything inherently wrong with the blog awards. The premise is sound, giving a blogger some words of praise and the concept of “nominating” others makes folks aware of other blogs out there that might be interesting. For someone like me, who is not the most social person (putting it mildly), it does seem like chain mail. I am always honored when someone thinks of nominating me. And, thank you for your kind words.
My issue with those “awards” is because they don’t feel real. Someone chose 15 random blogs and “nominated” for an award. You probably have not even visited those blogs in ages, but you would do anything for a little promotion. Do you know I know it’s fake? because This what I used to so when they would tell me to choose 15 people. Another reason I fee like they are fake is because you don’t really win anything. Most award I know have nominees and actual winners, that one person who was better than the rest. Like the Oscars or the Tony awards. each category or have nominees and an overall winner. It’s just an endless chain on never ending re-post with no real reward. I am not saying That I feel like I need a reward to keep blogging (although it would be nice having one), I am just saying I am not all up for fake awards who the person “nominating” for didn’t even give any real thought.
Yes, I suppose that’s all true. I am the least competitive person on the planet. I never want to be involved in any “contest” of any kind. I don’t watch awards either. No grammys or emmys or tonys or oscars or marys or bettys*. So it’s just not for me on many levels.
I really like the short poems paired with the photographs. Keep them coming.

Eek! I wasn’t aware of this ‘blogging chain mail awarding’. Thanks for the warning. Love the prose you attach to the photos! Ciao, Cristina

The awards are silly. How they got started on WP I have no idea but they should be stopped. Don’t mean to be crude but honest.
