Rest here with me.
Sit down on the marble steps, tell me what you’re thinking.
After we sketch the sculptures, after we write poetry
in notebooks, right before we leave for dinner–
Rest here with me.
Sit down on the marble steps, tell me one more time,
what you’re thinking.

It is romantic. I love visiting the museum with my husband where we sketch and write separately and then come together to share. I sat on these steps with friends from art school MANY years ago as well, sketching and talking and drinking strong coffees. Love those steps.

Excellent poem!
There are marble steps at the local Field Museum by us. They lead up to the dinosaur exhibits. I usually try to rush my wife up them too fast!

I love marble steps. And who can resist a railing like this? Maybe next time you can share a warm coffee on the steps. It makes you feel like a kid again. Adults don’t usually do this, oh but it feels good.

Thanks very much, Sylvia… but nothing makes me feel more like a kid than the dinosaurs! 🙂
