good health—the positive management of your health
enough food—bowls of berries and platters of cheese, black beans, red tomatoes and good chocolate
the love of another person, or of an animal
safety—a warm home without fear
steaming cups of coffee and strong, black tea
good books on frigid mornings
candles that smell like balsam, like cherry pipe tobacco, like spicy cinnamon
old photos
tattered quilts
pine cones and dried flowers in vases
love letters tucked away with ribbons
crunchy walks in the snow
a good type of tired—from puttering in the house, from doing good for others, from shoveling someone’s walkway, from reading an entire book of poems in one night
freedom to get things wrong and freedom to get things right every once in a while

Percy is a darling, what is his breed?

Percy is short for Persimmon and she is an Airedale Terrier. She’s very vocal and super smart and funny. Right now, she’s a handful — with the puppy biting and the high energy but I just love her to bits.

I can agree with almost all of you winter delights as far as my Australian winter allows. No crunchy snow but I’ll swap it for the crackle of a warm fire glowing in the room, snuggled up reading or watching a movie

it is worth considering that if you posses all those things you are 1 of the 5% or less of the human population in the world

Oh yes, I am always acutely aware of my privilege — and the fact that I am the first person of my immediate family to enjoy such a privilege is never lost on me.

Great post with valuable insights. This winter we again hear the crunch, when walking in the snow! Still some bitter cold ahead, then Spring will be on the horizon. Thanks for posting.
