Lately
insects that look like green leaves
dreams that hang about like languid strings
soap that smell like sweet roses
laughter that soars like paper airplanes
Lately (again)
Sleep
there are times when she’d like to close her eyes,
lay her head into folded arms,
and sleep for years and years and years
Storms
Storms never last do they baby
Bad times all pass with the winds
Your hand in mine stills the thunder
You make the sun want to shine
From the song, Storms Never Last by Jessi Colter, 1980
Rose Petals
in the night, while the snow fell silently,
i dreamt of flying rose petals,
pink and velvety,
aromatic and delicate–
catching them upon my tongue,
they melted softly like
cotton candy communion
