let your dreams fly free,
like wild birds,
soaring into the air
and across green horizons

let your dreams fly free,
like wild birds,
soaring into the air
and across green horizons

let your warmth
drift slowly across my
doorstep and straight into
my brittle heart

a quick collection of photos that i’ve taken recently completely by mistake–there is beauty, even in errors

to me, the seagulls are always connected with the river in winter–
resting on the frigid wind currents–
crying out in the deep allegheny valley
that carries their haunting echoes upriver

there you were–
a beautiful red hawk
scanning the horizon,
registering our presence with
a cold, hard stare

a new year
with new paths–
filled with bracing snow,
soft blankets and days of laughter, good friends and good coffee

Thank you for reading my thoughts here on spanishwoods. I appreciate your words of encouragement more than you can ever know!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.

the dust motes in the afternoon light
a highlighted sentence in a tattered book
the lost button in a warm coat pocket
a reflection cast from cut crystal
the dangling string on a colorful kite

What was on my grocery list:
milk
bread
cereal
fruit
butter
vegies
dishwashing liquid
tape
batteries
What I actually bought:
milk
bread
strawberry poptarts
tangerines in a small wooden crate
2 cans of tuna and
a green candle

a walk in thick, early-morning fog with icy frost clinging to webs and grass and leaves and burrs, cleared my mind of clutter
