This monochromatic scene stares at me
for weeks on end in the deep winter.
And although I find it beautiful and serene,
what I wouldn’t do to see a ruby red poppy
jutting out defiantly from the snows.
A splash of red would help my mood today. The storm is headed our way and the snow keeps piling up. I don’t have music on today, just working in the quiet watching the snow on the water…
It is lovely, and it is peaceful. But I miss the sun. Since a few days before I posted the photo of the blue sky and the barn, we’ve not had a day of sunshine. I believe that might be almost 4 weeks ago.
Being from the desert, I am not a fan of cold weather but I do admire the beauty of winter. Your “Winter On The River” shot is absolutely beautiful! Perfectly still, yet a resounding projection of vibrancy!
Your son really has an eye for photography. Lovely shot. 🙂
And I can just picture a red red poppy making a defiant statement in the snow. 🙂

Gorgeous! I need to get to the rivers and take some photos. Yours and Wolf’s photos inspire me daily as do your words!

We’re so lucky to live in such a beautiful city. Plenty of rivers and bridges to take winter photos!

I sympathize completely. Winter here can be beautiful, but it will still be a long two months or so waiting for the reappearance of green.
