gleaming sapphires in midnight skies

sinister

a bare beauty—
solitary,
exposed,
implied,
intuited
Stillness
a stillness
a quiet
a smile
and
a nod
Early
early, with a hush and a heavy silence,
while the kitchen smells of coffee
and the pup sleeps under warm blankets,
the sun calls at the door
The Future
the years pass
like flickering lights on glass,
one
lined up after another—
and we save the happiest ones
in our tiny treasure boxes
in our dresser drawers
in a corner of our best selves
hoping to see them
reflected
within the frame
of the future
