  1. Hope you’re not having too much winter. We haven’t had much of winter in the west. A little snow, maybe total accumulation for the season around 3-4 inches, and a countable number of cold days, around 15-20. It’s all drought driven.

    Stay warm, Sylvia.

    1. Up until about three weeks ago, our winter was very mild. Since then, we’ve had below average temps and quite a bit of snow. I used to really love the snow and the cold and I’m sorry to say, I don’t enjoy it as much now. Which makes me feel very stereotypical, but there you have it. It’s certainly lovely to look at and I enjoy the snow at the beginning of the season, but we’re going on about three weeks of pure grey skies, frigid cold (my dog’s paws cramp with cold and I have to carry her inside) and a relentless ice build-up everywhere. Ok, that seemed like a lot of complaining…. thank you for the opportunity to vent my winter frustration! 🙂

  2. The chill and starkness and frigidity of your winter days is striking, Sylvia, in the words and images you have skillfully highlighted. Brr, Brr, and brr are my three words…not too creative. 😉

    1. Right, so when I get frustrated that I no longer enjoy the cold, I think that’s why I feel this way right now. There’s a really big difference between a day in the 30’s and 40’s with sun (and even no sun) and a grey, bitter cold, windy day of -15 where one is walking on thick ice. Two different things.

      1. I agree with you. I lived most of my life in cold areas – places where the temperatures go down to below freezing. But, as we grow older, warmth is welcome. And, on that note, with global warming, it gets abnormally hot, where I live
