Winter Through the Window in March

at first, it is heavy winter
and then it is lightly not winter–
lasting a tiny moment, allowing the crocuses and the snowdrops
to sing their siren songs of spring,
knowing all the while—
it will be winter through the window in March again

  1. Perfect words and photos. Bravo. I like the snow drops on the camera lens! Here, March is staying cold and wintry, a bit unseasonal for us compared to other, warmer and brighter Marches I’ve known. I can see certain buds starting to emerge on trees, but the grip of winter is still strong.

    1. Buds on trees are still a month away for us I think. But although there were almost 8 inches in the end, this week it will melt. That is a big difference between a March snowfall and a January snowfall that lasts for weeks. Thank you for your words of encouragement!
