Often in plain sight. I spooked a heron yesterday on the river that blended in so well with the gray rocks and vegetation that I didn’t even see it until it lifted off. I find that they are less skittish in the fall and you can get closer to them than in the spring.
That’s interesting, I didn’t know that. I love to watch them at this wetlands. It is actually there, although almost impossible to see. Over on the left in the dark section under the tall grasses.
Not to mention many other things, including some that slither. 🙂 –Curt

I see the Sumac seed bundles. I have soaked them in cold water, added sugar, and enjoyed sweet Sumac tea! Quite delicious.
