You were here before the houses were built.
Before the boats roared along the water,
before fishermen cast their lines out,
you swam along this river and called it home.
I envy your organization, your dedication,
your beauty and collected calm.
And I am sorry that we take so much from you,
so much for granted.
A reminder that the natural world would get along very well without any humans.
Lovely photo and poem 🙂

I love Canada Geese – love to watch them land on water and hear their sharp honks.

Great photo/poem combination!
Canada geese are very intelligent and tend to mate for life. I can’t believe that many people hunt them.

I agree. I love to see them and to hear them every day.

I heard some people complaining about their droppings the other day and it actually made me very angry. I realize that this can be seen as an “inconvenience” but it struck me as so supremely selfish.

Those guys touch down at a nearby high school for a while during Spring. They like the baseball field, it’s so cool.

I love hearing them call to each other as they fly overhead. Thx for this lovely reminder of a bird too often disparaged.
