bring your smell
straight into my senses
and deep into my soul

bring your smell
straight into my senses
and deep into my soul

there are times when thoughts
are like empty stained glass panes–
fractured and transparent

open fields
crimson leaves
fog on the horizon
velvet holiday hearts
running hand in hand
the smell of wet earth
morning mist
red holly berries
still and quiet deer

open me–
i will exhale upon your touch
and unlock
that which lies within

your hushed voice
floats above my head
with the clouds
and the wind
and my imagined memories

alchemy
shimmer
gingerbread
clay moons
reflections
tinsel
orange slices
gold dust
conifer
masquerade
looking glass
alembic
candy apples
silver linings

left behind

“Everybody knows deep down that life is as much about the things that do not happen as the things that do and that’s not something that ought to be glossed over or denied because without frustration there would hardly be any need to daydream.”
from the novel, Pond by Claire-Louise Bennett

when i see the heron land in the marsh
when the geese fly close enough to hear their swishing wings
when a good book can’t be put down
when saturday morning breakfast brings us together
when an evening walk by the water happens at midnight
when i find a hawk feather in the grass–
it has been a very good day

To everyone in the US, Happy Thanksgiving Day.
