The oak tree leaves cling to their branches through the winter. They bend with the weight of the snow. Holding on tightly, they sway in the razor-cold wind. Come spring, the leaves will let go; floating silently on sweet breezes that carry them into the forest—where the deer hide and the sun sets.

Wonderful words, Sylvia. 🙏🏻❤️😊

I love marcescent leaves like the both the oaks and beeches have. Their sound when the wind rustles through them is sooo beautiful. As are your words and image.

Dale, you have taught me a new word today that is so lovely: marcescent. I had to look it up and I love learning new words. Thank you. And yes, the sound is very beautiful.

I discovered the word when I was looking for the sound of the wind in these types of leaves (Psithurism) but came back with marcescence instead. Never remember psithurism (and had to look it up again!) I have taught this word to a few. Glad you are joining the group!

That looks very Brrr, Sylvia. Even the snowman would want to come inside to warm up with a hot drink. ❄️☃️☃️☃️❄️

We’re having a very cold snap here in Pennsylvania, as are many other states. I don’t think we’ve had this amount of snow and these low temperatures in quite a few years.
