You need to come to Colorado to visit the Wolf and Wolf Hybrid Project. It’s a wolf rescue organization. You get to walk among the wolves and the wolf hybrids. The hybrids are generally part GS or part Belgian Malinois. They try to return them to their wild status, especially the wolves. Magnificent animals. They prefer no petting, but most were previously in a home environment. You can engage with them if they initiate the contact.
I have to add this anecdote: Once on a beautiful full moon night, as usual, my spouse went out to walk the dog before bed, and without his seeing me, I went out as well. He was about 50′ away in the yard, and I let out my best coyote howl just because that’s what we do, right? Apparently, I am a good mimic, because I see him rushing the dog to the house, believing there was one in the yard! I couldn’t stop laughing, it was so comical. I didn’t intend to fool him, but he was NOT amused, lol! π I can still laugh myself silly thinking of it!
Love the sketch and photo Sylvia. There is your howl on the paper.
Next Full Moon you must join the rest of our “pack” and raise your voice to the sky ππΊ
I’m with Dale, Sylvia. Just put your head back and howl. I’ve done that several times over they ears with dogs. Pretty soon they are howling right along with you. It’s a great way to communicate. Visceral. π βCurt
I loved the image but the words make it. A haibun is an image with a haiku or tanka as part of the image. Although those brief words don’t technically fit either, they make such a strong statement together. I loved it and wish I could see them together. I wish this almost every day when I see how people behave. Great work
A wolf!!! That seems to be going around.

Every full moon, we go out to howl. Luckily, the neighbors aren’t that close by to mind. π

Ha, the dog thinks we’re nuts, which is not all that far from the truth (but in a ‘good’ way). π

Growing up I lived in a NYC tenement. Someone flushing while taking a shower was the answer.
