The ground’s a long way down but I need more
Is the nightmare really black
Or are the windows painted
Will they come again next week
Can my mind really take it
Lyrics from the song, Madman Across the Water by Elton John and Bernie Taupin from the album Madman Across the Water, 1971
I love Madman Across The Water. Lovely window to look at him through.

Me too. I think it’s one of his (and Bernie Taupin’s) best albums

This is a powerful song, Sylvia, thanks for the reminder. Great piano as well as lyrics.

I think the union of Elton John’s piano compositions and Bernie Taupin’s lyrics was absolutely brilliant. All of my favorite EJ albums are of them working together.
