Lovely photos. I, too, love the smell of the earth after we’ve had rainfall following a dry period or drought as we’ve had here in the UK. The little dog is gorgeous. Lovely post. Thank you for sharing. X
Such a universal thing, the smell of the rain and the earth after the rain. I hope you have enough rainfall (but not too much) in your neck of the woods Brian. 🙂
No rain here Sylvia. Winter is the dry season but the prediction is for a very wet Spring.
Did you know that Petrichor was termed by two Australian scientists in the 1964.
Petrichor is the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil. The word comes from the Greek words ‘petra’, meaning stone, and ‘ichor’, which in Greek mythology refers to the golden fluid 🙂
No, I didn’t know that term (Petrichor), but I love that you know that and shared that with me. Language is so interesting and beautiful. The concept that there is an actual word for that smell is just wonderful.
OMG look at this cutie!!! Is it legal to be that cute?
Have a pawesome week, stay safe and healthy. ❤

What did your pup think of all the wetness?

She smelled everything, sat for a couple minutes and headed back inside…

I’m pretty sure that the little nose is enjoying “the pungent smell of the earth” even more than you, Sylvia. 🙂
