These large croaking characters are always welcome in my world. Once, when Peggy and I were backpacking in the remote Gila Wilderness of New Mexico, we swore we had one following us. It would fly over our tent at five every morning and insist that we get up. I thought maybe it was a spirit of Geronimo since he had managed to evade US troops there for such a long time. –Curt
Curt, that is an awesome story. It was in the Gila National Forest many years ago where my daughter (the person to whom I asked the bird question) was followed by a butterfly that kept flying against her head and her body and ever since then, a butterfly has been her totem. Some very special energy there……. 🙂
Raven, a good choice. Like the crow, it has a good bit of sass. 🙂
Hope your 2019 is off to a good start.
