the laurel looked so beautiful in the
slanted rays of the afternoon–
so enticing
and lovely,
i could almost feel the analgesics
numbing arthritic pain,
silencing soft and sorrowful broken hearts

I didn’t realize it’s wonderful medicinal properties. ☺️

In small quantities it can help ailments like arthritis pain. In larger quantities it can be fatal. I’m always fascinated by the duality of almost everything.

Very nice! 🙂
I take a number of herbs for arthritis, but not Laurel.

Well, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it considering it also has poisonous properties. But I found reading about it and all of uses quite interesting.

This post made me read up on Mountain Laurel and Rhododendron. Often confused for one another, and many of us (including me) thought they were the same. Thanks for prodding me to look closer

Yes, the leaves are very similar. But the flower of the mountain laurel is exceptionally beautiful. It’s so delicate and complicated. Truly a thing of beauty. We live about 45 minutes away from a small mountain range called, the Laurel Highlands. We used to hike and camp in those woods and mountains and I was always enchanted by the laurel flower. One of my favorite places in the world.
