the cigarette smoke fades softly into the
dark and humid night along this ridge in Penn’s woods–
making my memories of flat Ohio landscapes
and golden rolls of hay disappear, dissolve and drift
upon the strong and swift Allegheny

Wonderful. It is a beautiful state.
I want to nominate you for the 3 day quote challenge, that is one quote a day for three day. They might even go nicely with your photography. I hope you will accept the challenge.

Thanks April. When does the “one quote a day for 3 days” start?

I could nominate you tomorrow, so three days. There is tons of grotes on the net. I’ve had no trouble. I’m combining the challenge with the daily prompt.

You know April, I’m going to pass right now. I have my writing lined up that I worked on while I was away. But keep me in mind for the future. Thank you so much.

I apparently have confused people. I’m checking with the person who nominated me for clarification.

Pennsylvania and Ohio are so similar and yet so different all at the same time. Even the culture is uniquely different.

Yes, I’m familiar with both and that’s true. Both are wonderful.

I think hay bales always make great subjects for photography, Sylvia. Shape, color and backdrop always seem to come together. And they are so different depending on where you are. I still remember the first round ones I ever saw. They were in British Columbia. Before that, I always thought they were square. –Curt

Yes, you’re right all those textures and colors come together and make such a beautiful scene. When I was driving by this field a couple weeks ago, I had to turn around and come back to it and just sat in the car looking upon this expanse of land. For me it is pulsing with memories and emotions. I snapped this shot and then drove away. But the image (or the feeling of the image) stayed with me all day and into my return journey home to Pennsylvania. In any case, I’ve never been to British Columbia. I would love to go. As always, thank you for sharing your thoughts Curt.

Nostalgia in a bale of hay. It’s true. 🙂

I think that no image is as iconically American (for me) than rolls or bails of hay in the cut field.
