The Visit

It was a Saturday morning in early August–
we purchased you at the farmer’s market,
right outside the diner’s doors.
We had breakfast in that small town and
laughed while drinking strong coffee.
Later, leaving you in a vase on their kitchen table,
we said our goodbyes without realizing
the finality of that simple gesture.

  1. One never knows which goodbye will be our last, it is knowledge that is held from us. Therefore, we mustn’t take life for granted, every moment is a gift to cherish. Rejoice in the time spent, grateful for the dear memories. Blessings.
