spine cracked,
pages dog-eared,
passages underlined and memorized–
shadows of a haunted epilogue

I took this photo at The Cloisters in New York. It’s an absolutely fascinating collection of religious art and architecture. I was in awe the entire time we were there.

Thank you. Norm has a very similar photo of the same candelabra at https://miscellaneousmusingsofamiddleagedmind.wordpress.com
Funny that we both took the same shot.

Whoa – you made me do a double-take on that photo. I posted a similar shot of that exact same candle for Silent Sunday last weekend.
It makes for a great mood shot 🙂

Oh my gosh, I totally missed your post with that candle! Your angle actually captures more of the detail of the ironwork. I forgot to take a photo of the placard on this so I don’t remember what century it’s from. I’m sure we’ll have a lot of similar shots from The Cloisters! I actually thought of you when I was looking at the doors! What an absolutely beautiful place.

What is the meaning behind this?
LikeLike
For me, the beauty of these tiny musings is that the meaning can be different to all. And most importantly, the act of writing and of noticing details that I capture in photos or that my son captures is a sort of existential experience whereby the process is more important than the finished product. In these few lines I was thinking of setting my thoughts aside for the day. Although there are certain thoughts that I carry with me at all times and will most likely carry them at my side forever.
