    1. The writing in this book is really, really good. It’s one of those things where the story is nowhere as interesting as the writing. I could feature at least 10 excellent excerpts and it’s a very slim volume. Thanks for the compliment on the photo! 🙂

  1. This is most interesting. They may be dangerous but they may be able to turn this into something good, too.
I’ve added it to my “to read” list! Lovely image to go with the excerpt!

    1. I completely and totally agree. As I mentioned, the actual story line is interesting but not as interesting as the writing. I kept this little book from when I first read it in the early 90’s because of the writing. Upon re-reading it, I remembered how lovely some of the sentences are. They are like little glass creatures on a high shelf.

      1. Sometimes the quality of the writing is THE thing, not the story. I’m re-reading (I think, I feel like it’s all new, for some reason!) Beloved. I have no idea what the story is about (well, I do, but the point being that it’s very vague) but the writing is exquisite.

  2. Survive? Yes, but at what cost? Life must be more than mere survival. Is someone dangerous because they simply have nothing left to lose? Perhaps the opposite is more likely. …

      1. Of course you’re correct. I do understand what a struggle daily life can be for many. I can only wish it was otherwise. …
