Walking at the blue hour of morning,
wet and cold and almost foreboding–
I hear the train in the distance…
It races past with a steamy, pulsating pace
that blows my red scarf onto my face–
I pause to pick up the terrified pup.

Aw, poor pup.

Yes, she buried herself into my neck and I had to carry her all the way home.

You are lucky that your pup is small enough to pick up!

Our little Shih Tzu, too, is terrified of train noises.

Well, honestly it’s quite loud and frightening when you’re standing so close. I love the sound of the train, but I think it’s soothing from a far distance. Poor little pups.

One of the houses of my childhood was very close to the tracks–friends would come over and complain about the noise, but we were so used to it we never bothered to even notice! Great writing, as usual.

Thank you…
Funny what we just learn to live with, accept and sometimes even learn to love.

My favourite time of the day, not sure I’d like the train in it though. What sort of pup? 🙂

She is a 13 week old shih tzu and poodle mix, and she is the most difficult pup I’ve ever had. Thankfully she’s very cute and that mostly makes up for everything.

She’s fine, just startled. As she is by the ringing phone, by the leaf blowers and by very large construction boots.
